72 Years Ago Today!

I just remembered as I saw what date this is, that my parents Art and Alice Rasmussen were married on this date 72 years ago in the Manti Temple. I always remembered their anniversary while they were alive, even when I was young. It was a day that was always very important to me. I remember one anniversary in the late 60's, I think, when Dad gave Mom a diamond wedding ring set. She was so thrilled, and she put her inexpensive red garnet ring away that she got when they were first married. I now cherish that garnet ring as my own. In 1959, Dad brought Mom 25 brand new silver dollars when he came home for lunch. I remember how happy they were and how we had a big group hug. I always came home for lunch from school at any age. It was my favorite time of day and the food was the best ever.

My parents are both gone now, having both died in 2001 within six weeks of each other. I know that they are celebrating today together. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad. I love you.

Mom, thanks for posting about Grandma and Grandpa. You know them better than me, and it is nice to hear about them.

It is good to learn more about Grandma and Grandpa, I have all these questions now that they are gone.

My stake president was your semindary teacher in Price! Now I just need to remember his name...I just grabbed my Temple recommend and it looks like William O Nelson. I hope that rings a bell. He said you were a "vivacious amazing girl full of life".

Oh, Elisa, Bro. Nelson was my most favorite adult of all time in high school. He and his wife helped me though some tough times in high school, and taught me a lot. I love them. I asked him to marry Bruce and I in 1967. I think he was a bishop then in Idaho, and he couldn't get permission to do it. Also his wife came to our sealing in the Salt Lake Temple in 1977. If my memory is right, he was at the time the secretary to the prophet. Tell them hello for me. His wife is Bernadette. Small world.

Seriously though, when you mentioned that both your parents died in 2001 within 6 weeks of each other I thought, (honestly), "So did my Dad's"!
